Anti-freeze at Dumfries

Dumfries Ice Bowl is in the news for two reasons tonight!

Dumfries and Galloway Council is looking into the possibility of replacing the underused indoor bowling facility with a dedicated curling pad. Currently the curling at the Ice Bowl shares the main rink with skating and ice hockey. A public consultation is to take place. That's the good news. The bad news is that the complex faces a bill of more than £1 million for necessary repair work.

But this is also the weekend of the Junior International. Here's Jay McWilliam in action.

Linde de Wit has brought her Dutch team to Dumfries.

Jennifer Paul is not from Holland!

Scott Andrews and Claire MacDonald

Ian Copland and Struan Wood

Manuela Siegrist's Swiss team are from Basel.

Valentin Scherrer skips a Swiss junior men's team.

Megan McMillan is just twelve years old (with good curling genes) and enjoying her first major competition!

Ross Whyte is a well known character at the Ice Bowl, which has an active and enthusiastic young curlers club!

Did I say it was a fun end-of-season competition? Lindsay Gray and Thomas Pendreigh remind us that summer is fast approaching!

The anti-freeze. This shot should be in every curler's armoury! From the Ice Bowl bar.
