Curling at Stirling

Scotland's newest curling venue, at Stirling, will host its first curling event, a Mixed Seniors competition, this Saturday. I'm hoping that I may be able to look in for some of the action, and see what the new Stirling rink at The Peak is like. The website is here. As well as an ice rink, the facility has a swimming pool, sports hall, gym, fitness and dance studio, climbing wall, cafe and bar.

Local development officer Logan Gray is organising a Stirling Skins competition July 24-26. For those who fancy some summer competition, get in touch with Logan at the new rink. He's looking for twenty-five teams. Contact details for the rink are here.

Other curling news. I note that Vernon issues are still very much to the fore. There was an article in the Scottish Mail on Sunday, and the Galloway Gazette has a story this week, reporting that Stranraer curler Gail Munro has instructed a lawyer to bring a civil action against national coach Derek Brown, citing stress and damage to her reputation.

The Scottish Curling Forum has a thread on the topic here, with a poll which seeks views on the question, "Does Gail have a case against Derek?"
