Steam Friday

A puff of white smoke. Here it comes.

BR Britannia Class 4-6-2 no 70013 Oliver Cromwell is hauling the Preston-Glasgow leg of the Railway Touring Company's Great Britain 111 excursion. This was a little south of Lockerbie today, with the M74 in the background.
North of Lockerbie now, heading up Annandale towards Beattock.

Near Dalmakethar. It was a grey day, with little wind, and thankfully not too cold!

I like this one, as it heads on through Wamphray Parish.

I followed the train up the M74, overtaking it apparently making heavy weather on the incline up to Beattock Summit. What was amazing to see were the hundreds of people off the service road watching and taking pictures!

I was just in time to get this photo near Crawford.

Here is Oliver Cromwell, taking on water in the loop at Abington.

There were lots of others taking closeup photos in this location.

Here's Paula.

I know which I prefer.

Pulling away from Abington with the Clyde in the background.

And a bonus on the day was this pair of Black Fives, 44871 and 45407, passing Abington at speed, on their way to Glasgow. They will haul the leg to Stranraer tomorrow.
